Torie von Alt Managing Director – Corporate Positioning, Crisis Communications & Thought Leadership
Torie von Alt is a communications executive with over twenty years of experience advising on transactions, private equity, executive and corporate positioning, and crisis situations.
Prior to M Group, Torie served as the director of public relations at Guggenheim Partners. While at Guggenheim, Torie instituted a broad-reaching thought leadership program for senior management and secured membership for the firm with the World Economic Forum. She coordinated Guggenheim’s first participation in the WEF’s annual Davos Forum in 2013, securing numerous press interviews and positive coverage for firm management. Prior to Guggenheim, Torie managed communications for the Investment Bank division of UBS as executive director of Corporate Communications.
Earlier in her career, Torie served as vice president of Corporate Communications at Lehman Brothers, initially based in New York and then in Hong Kong. While in Asia, she managed communications for the Capital Markets, Research, Investment Management and Prime Brokerage divisions, with regional oversight of Hong Kong, Singapore and Southeast Asia (including India). She led the development of communications infrastructures for the firm’s growing India and Singapore franchises, and served as primary spokesperson for the firm in both countries. She designed thought-leadership campaigns for the firm’s economists and equity strategists throughout Asia-Pacific, and served as Asia-Pacific liaison for her colleagues in New York during quarterly financial results, management changes, and, most notably, Lehman’s bankruptcy and subsequent sale of European and Asian operations to Nomura.
She began her career at Edelman and Financial Dynamics, two global corporate and financial communications firms, where she specialized in advising clients on strategy and press relations for crisis, M&A, litigation/bankruptcy, IPOs, and other special situations. She has significant experience serving as counsel to private equity firms and investment banking teams, and in developing thought-leadership and executive visibility programs.
Torie holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from Smith College.
