Jay Morakis is a corporate communications specialist, helping clients shape their overall communications strategies through public and investor relations programming as well as public affairs, and crisis & issues management. He founded M Group Strategic Communications in 2003 as a corporate public relations and integrated communications agency, and subsequently grew the firm’s footprint global footprint and integrated scope of services to include communications programming in 7 countries on 4 continents. In his role as President & CEO, he drives the firm’s strategic direction and is responsible for its integrated approach to corporate communications.
Over his 20 plus year career, Mr. Morakis has serviced a wide variety of public and private companies, from multi-nationals to small and medium sized enterprises. He has also serviced foreign governments, industry trade associations and NGOs, and has a particular expertise integrating issues management, thought leadership and cross-border communications with public and investor relations programming.
Prior to founding MGSC, Mr. Morakis served as a team leader in Edelman Public Relations Corporate and Issues Management Practice where he led global corporate communications programs, overseeing media relations, investor relations, speakers bureau campaigns, public affairs initiatives and crisis communications. Prior to working in the Corporate practice, he was part of Edelman’s financial communications group, focusing on institutional programming. Morakis began his career in Burson-Marsteller’s Public Affairs practice in New York, where he managed crises and issues management campaigns as well as corporate communications for a wide range of U.S. and European companies, as well as international governments.
A graduate of Boston University, Mr. Morakis holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in economics.
